Unlike Intels Adoption of AMD64 these two SIMD techs were not compatible. Instead they, from that point on, would just include SSE in their CPU's.

These few new ones were later added 3dnow Pro and development ended due to programmers even early 3dnow adopters dropping support for 3dnow. These new AMD instructions where later added to SSE2 as well once again a few new ones. These where later added to AMD CPU's as enhanced 3dnow, like intel did with SSE, AMD added a few new instructions as well as the intel ones. SSE had a few extra instructions then 3dnow had. Much like EMT64 is just another name for AMD64, AMD created SIMD tech called as mentioned before 3Dnow, Intel through cross licensing agreements was able to use the instructions AMD had created in their own SIMD tech called SSE. Speaking of draft Wireless-N (and the mess it has been, including orphaned devices): Use something other than USB 3.0 at your own peril without the manufacturer's support. They will be crying when device makers won't support the pseudo spec and/or have "USB 3.0" requirements on the box instead of a "USB 3.0 or OpenUSB" requirements. The funny thing is that if there is a separate open USB spec, it will accomplish the exact opposite of the goal without device maker support (see link above). The problem will not be Intel's official spec host controller or the devices made to the USB 3.0 spec, it will be only with the incompatible secondary spec that has little chance of commercial success at this late time. IOW, making an incompatible host controller is stupid because the USB device makers will be following the official spec. It will not comply with the USB3.0 spec still under work by the " USB 3.0 Promoters Group," which includes several hardware chip manufacturers who make the chips that go inside USB devices. Click to expand. If AMD/nvidia/VIA make their own "OpenUSB" spec, it will just die or be forced to adapt to the official spec.
